Allah turns His Face toward him; so let none of you spit in the direction of his qiblah, nor to his right, for the angel who records good deeds is on his right. Rather, let him spit to his left.”
Ibn Nasr narrated it in al-Salah (24/1): Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-Hajjaj narrated to us from Hammad, from Hammad, from Rib'i ibn Hirash, that Shith ibn Rib'i spat in the direction of his qiblah. Hudhayfah then said: “The Messenger of Allah said”—and then cited it.
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and are among the narrators relied upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. The first Hammad is Ibn Zayd, while the Hammad who narrated from him is Ibn Usamah, Abu Usamah al-Kufi.
- “When a Muslim goes out to the mosque, Allah records for him a good deed for every step he takes and erases from him a bad deed thereby, until he reaches his place.”
Ibn Nasr narrated it in al-Salah (19/2) through Musa ibn Yaqub, who said: Abbad ibn Abi Salih al-Samman, the client of Juwayriyyah bint al-Akhfash al-Ghatafani, told me that he heard his father say: I heard Abu Hurayrah say: The Messenger of Allah said—and then cited it.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and are narrators relied upon by Muslim, apart from Musa ibn Yaqub—al-Zumai—who was truthful but had some weakness. Abbad’s name was Abdullah. He then narrated it through al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, with similar wording; and through Ibrahim ibn Abi Usayd, from his grandfather, from Abu Hurayrah, with similar wording, adding: “When he reaches the mosque, his prayer is voluntary.”
- “Do not keep looking at those afflicted with leprosy.”
It was narrated by al-Bukhari in al-Tarikh al-Kabir (1/1/138), Ibn Majah (2/364), Ahmad (1/233), Ibn Abi Shaybah in al-Adab (1/156/1), Ibn Ma'in in Hadithuhu (9/2), and al-Harbi in al-Gharib (5/82/1), from
