1052 — “The best women to ride camels are the righteous women of Quraysh: they are most tender toward a child in his youth and most careful with their husbands’ property.”
This is a hadith of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, and it has several routes from him:
-
From Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah, from Abu al-Zinād, from al-Aʿraj, from him, attributed to the Prophet. It was recorded by al-Bukhari (6/193), Muslim (7/181–182), and Ahmad (2/393). Shuʿayb also corroborated him from Abu al-Zinād, as recorded by al-Bukhari (6/120). Muhammad—namely Ibn ʿAmr—also narrated it in Ahmad (2/449).
-
Also from Sufyan: Ibn Ṭāwūs narrated to us from his father, from Abu Hurayrah. It was recorded by al-Bukhari (6/193) and Muslim. Maʿmar also corroborated Ibn Ṭāwūs with the same report. It was recorded by Ahmad (2/269).
-
From al-Zuhrī, from Ibn al-Musayyab, from him. Al-Bukhari recorded it (4/139) in suspended form, while Muslim and Ahmad (2/269 and 2/275) recorded it with a connected chain. It includes an explanation of the occasion for the hadith: “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, proposed to Umm Hāniʾ bint Abī Ṭālib, and she said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have grown old and have dependents.’ The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said: ...” The hadith.
-
From Maʿmar, from Hammām ibn Munabbih, from him. It was recorded by Muslim and Ahmad (2/319).
-
From Suhayl ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ, from his father, from him. Muslim alone recorded it.
-
From Ḥammād, from Muhammad ibn Ziyād, who said: “I heard Abu Hurayrah relate it.” Ahmad alone recorded it (2/469), and it is authentic according to Muslim’s criteria.
-
From Muhammad, from Abu Salamah, from him. Ahmad alone also recorded it (2/502). It is good.
