1014 — “What does the Prophet of Allah think, if he meets Allah while these are in his possession?” That is, six or seven dinars.
Aḥmad recorded it (6/104) through Mūsā ibn Jubayr, from Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl, who said: “One day, ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr and I entered upon ʿĀʾishah. She said: ‘Had you seen the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, one day during the illness from which he suffered! I had six dinars belonging to him in my possession’—Mūsā said: ‘Or seven.’ She continued: ‘The Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed me to distribute them. But his illness occupied me until Allah restored him to health. Then he asked me about them and said, “What became of the six”—or, he said, “the seven”? I replied, “No, by Allah; your illness had occupied me.” She said: “So he called for them, arranged them in the palm of his hand, and said ...”’ Then he cited it. (See Addendum no. 12/4.)
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy narrators of the two Ṣaḥīḥs, apart from this Mūsā. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in al-Thiqāt and said: “He would make errors and contradict others.”
I say: A number of trustworthy narrators reported from him, and Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned neither criticism nor commendation of him in his entry (4/1/139). Ibn Ḥajar said in al-Taqrīb: “He is mastūr”—that is, a narrator of unestablished standing.
I say: In my view, the hadith of such a narrator is good, provided that he does not contradict others—especially since Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr corroborated him, reporting it in similar terms from Abū Salamah, from ʿĀʾishah. Aḥmad recorded it (6/182), as did Ibn Saʿd in al-Ṭabaqāt (2/238). It also has several other routes and supporting reports; thus, the hadith is authentic. (See Addendum no. 12/19.)
1015 — “I place you under a strict obligation concerning the rights of the two weak ones: the orphan and the woman.”
Ibn Mājah (3678), Ibn Ḥibbān (1266), al-Ḥākim (1/63 and 4/128), Aḥmad (2/439), Abū Isḥāq al-Ḥarbī in Gharīb al-Ḥadīth (5/47/2), and Tammām in al-Fawāʾid (112/1) recorded it through Muḥammad ibn ʿAjlān, from Saʿīd al-Maqburī, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it. Al-Ḥākim said:
