In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Introduction to the Second Edition
Indeed, all praise is for Allah. We praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and from our evil deeds. Whomever Allah guides, none can lead astray; and whomever He leads astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.
To proceed: Today, I present to the beloved readers the third volume of Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah in its fine second edition, after the copies of its first edition had been exhausted, demand for it had increased, and the means had become available to reprint it by the photographic method now known as offset printing. I therefore reviewed it again, revised it, added certain useful additions, and corrected its typographical errors, to the extent permitted by the aforementioned method. I placed the remaining additions and benefits at the end of the book under the heading “Additions and Corrections,” marking them by placing them within square brackets [].
I also appended seven indexes in place of the four indexes in the first edition, since they were not prepared by me, nor were they arranged according to the precise scholarly method that I followed in the volumes preceding and following it. This was because most of the volume was printed while I was in Amman, so the correction of its proofs and the preparation of its indexes were undertaken by others among our younger brethren in Syria.
So praise be to Allah, who enabled me to reprint it, supervise its correction, and prepare its indexes. My daughter Unaysah, the wife of Nizam Sakkajha, the proprietor of the Islamic Library, assisted me in this. May Allah Most High reward them both with goodness.
