989 — “A mother bears no responsibility for her child; a mother bears no responsibility for her child.”
It was recorded by al-Nasa’i (2/251), Ibn Majah (2/147), Ibn Hibban (1683), and al-Hakim (2/611–612), who declared it authentic, from Yazid ibn Ziyad ibn Abi al-Ja‘d, from Jami‘ ibn Shaddad, from Tariq al-Muharibi, as a report attributed to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) with this wording. This is an authentic chain of transmission, and Yazid is trustworthy. The hadith was also recorded by Abu Ya‘la and Abu Nu‘aym, as cited in al-Muntakhab (2/518).
990 — “You bear no responsibility for his offense, nor does he bear responsibility for yours.”
It was recorded by Ibn Majah (2/147–148) and Ahmad (4/344–345, 5/81) from Hushaym, who said: Yunus ibn ‘Ubayd informed us, from Husayn ibn Abi al-Hurr, from al-Khashkhash al-‘Anbari, who said: “I came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) accompanied by a son of mine. He said, ‘Is this your son?’ I replied, ‘Yes.’ He then said,” and mentioned it.
It says in al-Zawa’id: “All the narrators in its chain of transmission are trustworthy, except that Hushaym was known to obscure links in transmission.”
I say: But he explicitly stated that he heard it in this narration, which is Ahmad’s. Thus, the chain of transmission is authentic. Its wording has the order reversed: “He bears no responsibility for your offense, nor do you bear responsibility for his.” The hadith was also recorded by Abu Ya‘la, al-Baghawi, Ibn Qani‘, Ibn Mandah, al-Tabarani in al-Kabir, and Sa‘id ibn Mansur in his Sunan, as cited in al-Muntakhab (6/126). It has a corroborating report from the hadith of Abu Rimthah, which is cited in Irwa’ al-Ghalil (2362).
991 — “Whoever loves the Ansar, Allah loves him; and whoever hates the Ansar, Allah hates him.”
It was recorded by Ibn Majah (1/70) from the hadith of al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib, and its chain of transmission is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs.
