from Dawud ibn Ibrahim al-Dhuhali, who informed him from Abu Umamah Sudayy ibn Ajlan al-Bahili, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said. I say: This is a weak chain of transmission. I have not found a biographical entry for Dawud ibn Ibrahim al-Dhuhali. Ismail ibn Ayyash is trustworthy in his narrations from the Syrians, but we do not know whether this is one of them. As for Abd al-Hamid ibn Ibrahim Abu al-Taqi, it says in Al-Taqrib: “Truthful, except that his books were lost and his memory consequently deteriorated.”
Note: Al-Ayni cited the hadith in Umdat al-Ri'ayah (3/204) with the wording: “Whoever recites the Verse of the Throne and ‘Say: He is Allah, the One’ after every prescribed prayer, nothing but death prevents him from entering Paradise.” He said: “Ibn al-Sunni narrated it from the hadith of Ismail ibn Ayyash, from Dawud ibn Ibrahim al-Dhuhali, from Abu Umamah.” Yet, as you can see, this wording is not found in Ibn al-Sunni, and there is a great difference between the two wordings. It apparently belongs to a narration of al-Tabarani, as may be understood from what we quoted from al-Haythami and al-Mundhiri regarding the preceding hadith. I do not know the basis for this error. I had wished to say that it was a slip of the pen, but what prevents this is that al-Ayni cited it through the route which we reported from Ibn al-Sunni, with wording different from his own. And Allah knows best.
The hadith has supporting reports, among them: “Whoever recites the Verse of the Throne after every prayer, nothing stands between him and entering Paradise except death; when he dies, he enters Paradise.” Abu Nuaym recorded it in Al-Hilyah (3/221) through the route of Makki ibn Ibrahim, who said: Hashim ibn Hashim narrated to us from Umar ibn Ibrahim, from Muhammad ibn Kab, from al-Mughirah ibn Shubah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said. And he said:
