Ahmad (3/245) transmitted it.
Hammad ibn Salamah also narrated it from him, except that he omitted Umar from the chain and thus presented it as a report from Jabir. Abu Ubayd transmitted it in al-Amwal (nos. 270, 271). The first version is correct. Sufyan al-Thawri likewise narrated it with the wording: “If I live, I shall certainly expel them.” It will come, Allah willing, under no. 1134. Al-Tahawi also transmitted the hadith in al-Mushkil (4/12) through Ibn Jurayj and Sufyan.
It also has another chain, which al-Mukhlis transmitted in al-Fawa'id al-Muntaqah (9/204/1): Abdullah—that is, al-Baghawi—narrated to us: Muharriz—that is, Ibn Awn—narrated to us: al-Qasim ibn Muhammad narrated to us from Abdullah ibn Muhammad, from Jabir, from Umar, with the same wording.
I say: This is a good chain; its narrators are trustworthy, except for Abdullah ibn Muhammad—namely, Ibn Aqil—whose reliability has been subject to criticism, though his hadith does not fall below the rank of good.

Abu Dawud (4941), al-Tirmidhi (1/350), Ahmad (2/160), al-Humaydi (591), al-Hakim (4/159)—who authenticated it, with al-Dhahabi concurring—and al-Khatib in al-Tarikh (3/260), as well as Abu al-Fath al-Kharqi in al-Fawa'id al-Multaqatah (222–223), all transmitted it through Sufyan ibn Uyaynah, from Amr ibn Dinar, from Abu Qabus, the freedman of Abdullah ibn Amr, in a report attributed to the Prophet. Al-Tirmidhi said:
