920 — “No day dawns upon the servants of Allah but that two angels descend. One of them says: ‘O Allah, grant replacement to the one who spends,’ while the other says: ‘O Allah, grant ruin to the one who withholds.’”
It was transmitted by al-Bukhari (3/237) and Muslim (3/83–84), through Abu al-Hubab Sa‘id ibn Yasar, from Abu Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with this wording. It has a corroborating report from the hadith of Abu al-Darda’, with the wording: “Never has the sun risen …,” which has already preceded.
Ibn Hibban (815) also transmitted it through ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi ‘Amrah, from Abu ‘Amrah, from Abu Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the wording: “Indeed, an angel at one of the gates of Paradise says: ‘Whoever lends today will be recompensed tomorrow.’ Another angel at a different gate says: ‘O Allah, grant replacement to the one who spends, and grant ruin to the one who withholds.’”
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. It also has a corroborating report from the hadith of Abu al-Darda’, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with similar wording. It was transmitted by Ibn Hibban (814), al-Hakim (2/445), and Ahmad (5/197).
921 — “Whoever believes in Allah and His Messenger, establishes the prayer, and fasts Ramadan, Allah will certainly admit him into Paradise, whether he strives in Allah’s cause or remains in the land where he was born.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, should we not convey this good news to the people?” He said: “Indeed, Paradise contains one hundred degrees, which Allah has prepared for those who strive in His cause; the distance between each two degrees is like that between heaven and earth. So, when you ask Allah, ask Him for al-Firdaws, for it is the middlemost and highest part of Paradise—I believe he said—and above it is the Throne of the Most Merciful, and from it the rivers of Paradise spring forth.”
