Thus the hadith is established. Praise be to Allah, the Exalted.
907 — “The best of your leaders are those whom you love and who love you, who pray for you and for whom you pray. The worst of your leaders are those whom you hate and who hate you, whom you curse and who curse you.” It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, should we not fight them with the sword?” He replied, “No, so long as they establish the prayer among you. If you see something in your governors that you dislike, then dislike their conduct, but do not withdraw your hand from obedience.”
Muslim (6/24), al-Darimi (2/324), and Ahmad (6/24, 28) narrated it from ʿAwf ibn Malik.
908 — “He would undergo cupping on the two veins at the sides of the neck and on the upper back, and he would undergo cupping on the seventeenth, nineteenth, and twenty-first.”
Al-Tirmidhi (2/5) and al-Hakim (4/210) narrated it through Hummam and Jarir ibn Hazim, who both said: Qatadah narrated to us from Anas, who related it from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Hakim said, “Authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhari and Muslim.” Al-Dhahabi concurred with him, and it is as they said.
It also has a supporting narration from Ibn ʿAbbas, worded: “He would undergo cupping on the seventeenth ...” Al-Hakim (4/409) narrated it through ʿAbbad ibn Mansur, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbas, who related it from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He said, “Its chain of transmission is authentic.” Al-Dhahabi refuted him, saying, “I say: No.”
