Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

He also attributed it in al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr (1/11/2) to al-Ṭabarānī, al-Ḥākim, al-Bayhaqī in al-Shuʿab, and al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī in al-Mukhtārah. However, I did not find it in the latter. His usual practice was to arrange the hadiths of each Companion according to the names of those who narrated from him, yet I did not find him mentioning this Mālik ibn Saʿd at all among those who narrated from him. Thus, I do not know whether al-Suyūṭī was mistaken, or whether al-Ḍiyāʾ narrated the hadith through a route other than that of this Mālik. Allah knows best.

His statement, “the one who presses it,” means: for himself. Al-Ṣiḥāḥ states: “I pressed a juice—that is, I made it.” Al-Ashrafī said: He may press its juice for someone else, whereas “the one who presses” is one who presses it for himself, as in the distinction between kāla and iktāla, and between qaṣada and iqtaṣada.

840 — “Gabriel came to me and said: ‘O Muhammad, say.’ I said: ‘And what should I say?’ He said: ‘Say: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah, which neither righteous nor wicked person can surpass, from the evil of what He created, brought forth, and made; from the evil of what descends from heaven; from the evil of what ascends into it; from the evil of what He brought forth and made in the earth; from the evil of what comes out of it; from the trials of the night and the day; and from the evil of every night visitor—except a visitor who comes with goodness, O Most Merciful!’”

Al-Suyūṭī attributed it in al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr (1/11/2) to Aḥmad, al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr, and Ibn al-Sunnī in ʿAmal al-Yawm wa al-Laylah, on the authority of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Khinbash.

It is recorded by Aḥmad (3/319) and Ibn al-Sunnī (631), through Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān al-Ḍubaʿī, who said: Abū al-Tayyāḥ narrated to us: “I said to ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Khinbash al-Tamīmī—who was an elderly shaykh—‘Did you meet the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ I said: ‘What did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, do on the night when the devils plotted against him?’ He said: ‘That night, the devils descended upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, from the valleys and mountain passes. Among them was a devil holding a flame of fire in his hand, intending to burn the face of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Then Gabriel, peace be upon him, descended to him and said: “O Muhammad...”’” He then mentioned the hadith, adding at its end:
