“It was narrated by Ahmad, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih collections.”
It has another corroborating report, similar to it, from the hadith of Anas. Ahmad recorded it (3/242, 265) through Umarah ibn Zadhan, who said: Thabit narrated to us from him. Umarah is “truthful but frequently errs,” as stated in al-Taqrib.
There is another corroborating report from the hadith of Abd Allah ibn Nujayy, from his father, who travelled with Ali. When he came abreast of Nineveh … he said: “I entered upon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) one day, and his eyes were overflowing …” The hadith is similar to the hadith of Umm al-Fadl. Ahmad recorded it (1/85).
I say: Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from Nujayy. Al-Hafiz said: “Acceptable”—that is, when corroborated—and he has in fact been corroborated. Al-Haythami said (7/187): “It was narrated by Ahmad, Abu Yala, al-Bazzar, and al-Tabarani. Its narrators are trustworthy, and Nujayy is not alone in narrating it.” He then mentioned it from the hadiths of Umm Salamah and Abu al-Tufayl, and its chain of transmission is good.
823 — “Beware of being ungrateful to those who bestow favours upon you.” I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is ingratitude to benefactors?” He said: “Perhaps one of you remains unmarried for a long time in her parents’ home; then Allah grants her a husband and grants her a child through him. Then she becomes angry and is ungrateful, saying: ‘I have never seen any good from you at all.’”
Al-Bukhari recorded it in al-Adab al-Mufrad (1048): Mukhallad narrated to us, saying: Mubashshir ibn Ismail narrated to us from Ibn Abi Ghaniyyah, from Muhammad ibn Muhajir, from his father, from Asma bint Yazid al-Ansariyyah: “The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) passed by me while I was in the company of some girls my own age. He greeted us with peace and said …” He then cited it.
I say: This is a sound chain of transmission. All its narrators are trustworthy and are narrators of the Sahih collections, apart from Muhajir, who was
