Note: Al-Manāwī cited the hadith with the wording: “the best of the people of Paradise,” attributing it to al-Ṭabarānī and al-Ḥākim. This is an error arising from a conflation of this hadith with another mursal report, worded: “Abū Sufyān ibn al-Ḥārith is the leader of the young men of Paradise.”

821 — “Gabriel came to me and informed me that my community would kill this son of mine”—meaning al-Ḥusayn. I said, “This one?” He replied, “Yes,” and he brought me some red earth from his land.”
