he had retained it, it would be no more than authentic, since Abū ʿAmmār was not among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, as mentioned above.
It has another chain, narrated by ʿUthām ibn ʿAlī, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Isḥāq, from Hānīʾ ibn Hānīʾ, who said: “ʿAmmār entered upon ʿAlī, who said, ‘Welcome, O pure one, made pure! I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say …’” He then mentioned it. It was narrated by Ibn Mājah (147) and Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ḥilyah (1/139).
I say: Its narrators are trustworthy and are among al-Bukhārī’s narrators, except for Hānīʾ ibn Hānīʾ, whose standing is unknown, as stated in al-Taqrīb. It also has a corroborating report narrated by Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd: Salamah ibn al-Faḍl narrated to us from Ibn Isḥāq, from Ḥakīm ibn Jubayr, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, attributed to the Prophet, with the wording: “From the crown of his head to his feet”—that is, to his marrow. Abū Nuʿaym narrated it.
I say: Its chain of transmission is weak, consisting throughout of weak narrators, namely those below Saʿīd ibn Jubayr.
808 — “I was sent at the very onset of the Hour.”
It was narrated by al-Dūlābī in al-Kunā (1/23) and Ibn Mandah in al-Maʿrifah (2/234/2), from Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah, from Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid, from Qays ibn Abī Ḥāzim, from Abū Jubayrah, attributed to the Prophet.
I say: This chain of transmission is authentic. All its narrators are trustworthy. There is disagreement over whether Abū Jubayrah was a Companion, but al-Ḥāfiẓ deemed it more likely in al-Taqrīb that he was a Companion. In al-Iṣābah, he mentioned that Abū Jubayrah narrated several hadiths from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. This is correct, contrary to al-ʿIjlī’s statement in al-Thiqāt:
