Hishām ibn Saʿd also corroborated Mālik’s narration from Abū Ḥāzim. Muslim reported it. Another supporting report, with similar wording, is narrated from Jābir and attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Muslim and al-Nasāʾī (2/150) also reported it through Ibn Jurayj, who said: Abū al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jābir narrate it. Al-Ṭaḥāwī likewise reported it. It has other supporting reports as well; see the hadith, “There is no contagion ...,” which has already appeared under (789).
800 — “The guardian of an orphan and I will be like these two in Paradise.” He indicated with his forefinger and middle finger, separating them slightly.
Al-Bukhārī reported it in his Ṣaḥīḥ (7/76) and in al-Adab al-Mufrad (p. 22), as did Abū Dāwūd (2/336), al-Tirmidhī (1/349), and Aḥmad (5/333); the wording cited is Aḥmad’s. It is narrated from Sahl ibn Saʿd. It has a corroborating report from Abū Hurayrah, which I cited in the other book (1637), though it is authentic with a different wording, namely: “the guardian of an orphan”; it will appear under (960).
There is another corroborating report from Umm Saʿīd, daughter of Murrah al-Fihriyyah, from her father, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with similar wording. Al-Bukhārī reported it in al-Adab al-Mufrad. Its chain is acceptable: all its narrators are among those used by the two Shaykhs, apart from this Umm Saʿīd, who is acceptable. However, the narrator from her, Unaysah, is unknown, as stated in al-Taqrīb.
801 — “Satirize the polytheists, for Gabriel is with you.”
Al-Bukhārī cited it without a complete chain (5/51), while Aḥmad reported it with a connected chain (4/286, 303), as did al-Khaṭīb (14/31), through al-Shaybānī, Sulaymān ibn Abī Sulaymān, from ʿAdī ibn Thābit, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: On the day of Qurayẓah, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Ḥassān ibn Thābit: He then mentioned it.
