Humayd ibn Kasib. Al-Bukhari narrated from him only in The Creation of the Servants’ Actions. He was truthful, though he sometimes erred, as stated in al-Taqrib. There is some criticism concerning al-Mughirah ibn Abd al-Rahman—who was Ibn al-Harith ibn Abd Allah ibn Ayyash—but it does not lower his hadith below the rank of good.
Al-Suyuti cited the hadith in al-Jami' with the wording: “Buthan lies upon one of the pools of Paradise,” narrated by al-Bazzar from Aishah. Al-Manawi said: “Al-Haythami said: ‘It contains an unnamed narrator.’” I say: Our narration is free of him. All praise is due to Allah for His enabling grace.
770 — “Fear Allah, and do not consider any act of kindness insignificant, even if it is merely pouring from your bucket into the vessel of one seeking water. Beware of conceit, for Allah does not love conceit. If a man insults you and reproaches you for something he knows about you, do not reproach him for something you know about him; then you will have its reward, while he will bear its sin. And do not insult anyone.”
Ahmad narrated it (5 / 63): Hushaym related to us; Yunus ibn Ubayd related to us, from Abd Rabbih al-Hujaymi, from Jabir ibn Sulaym—or Sulaym—who said: “I came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while he was sitting with his Companions, and I said, ‘Which of you is the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?’ He either gestured to himself, or the people pointed him out. I then saw him sitting with his knees drawn up in a cloak, its fringe having fallen over his feet. I said, ‘Messenger of Allah, I am ignorant of certain matters, so teach me.’ He then mentioned it.” Al-Marwazi likewise narrated it in Zawa'id al-Zuhd (1017).
