⦗810⦘ Al-Hakim recorded it (4/438–439) through Sinan ibn Saʿd, from Anas. I say: Its chain of transmission is good.
759 — “Hasten to perform deeds before six things occur: the sun’s rising from the west, the Dajjal (Antichrist), the Smoke, the Beast of the Earth, the personal fate of one of you, and the public calamity.”
Muslim recorded it (8/208), as did Ahmad (2/324, 407), through Shuʿbah and Hammam, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Ziyad ibn Rabah, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, with this wording.
ʿImran al-Qattan differed from them, reporting it from Qatadah, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Rabah, from Abu Hurayrah. Al-Tayalisi recorded it (2770, according to its arrangement), and from him Ahmad (2/511) and al-Hakim (4/516), who said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic.” Al-Dhahabi agreed with him!
I say: No. This al-Qattan had weakness in his retention, though his hadith is good when he is not contradicted. Here, however, he has contradicted the others in the chain of transmission, even though he retained the text correctly: he named ʿAbd Allah ibn Rabah in place of Ziyad ibn Rabah and omitted al-Hasan al-Basri from it.
The hadith also has another route from Abu Hurayrah with the same wording. Muslim and Ahmad recorded it (2/337, 372).
