Al-Daylamī also reported it in Musnad al-Firdaws (1/1/87), through al-Bazzār, from Ḥafṣ.
Among its supporting narrations is what al-ʿAskarī reported in al-Amthāl, and al-Khulʿī in his Fawāʾid, on the authority of Samurah ibn Jundub. Al-Manāwī said: “Al-Suyūṭī designated the hadith as good, perhaps because it is strengthened by corroborating evidence.”
I say: It seems that neither of them came across the authentic route recorded by Abū al-Shaykh from Abū Hurayrah. So praise be to Allah for His enabling grace.
727 — “Do not force your sick to eat or drink, for Allah feeds them and gives them drink.”
It has been narrated on the authority of ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, and Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh.
- As for the hadith of ʿUqbah, Bakr ibn Yūnus ibn Bukayr narrated it from Mūsā ibn ʿAlī, from his father, from him, with this wording. It was reported by al-Tirmidhī (2/3), Ibn Mājah (3444), al-Rūyānī in his Musnad (9/49/1), Ibn Abī Ḥātim (2/242), and Ibn ʿAdī in al-Kāmil (2/36). He said: “No one narrates it from Mūsā ibn ʿAlī except Bakr ibn Yūnus, and most of what he narrates is not corroborated. Al-Bukhārī said: ‘His hadith is rejected.’” Ibn Abī Ḥātim related from his father: “This is a false hadith, and this Bakr is rejected in hadith.”
