It also has a corroborating report through Fatimah al-Khuza‘iyyah, who said: “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, visited an ill woman from the Ansar and said to her, ‘How are you feeling?’ She replied, ‘I am well, except that Umm Mildam—the fever—has afflicted me severely.’ The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘Be patient, for it ...’”—the hadith. Al-Haythami (2/307) said: “Al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir, and its narrators are those of the Sahih.”
It has another corroborating report in the hadith of Khalid ibn Yazid, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir: “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, visited a woman from the Ansar and said to her, ‘Is it Umm Mildam?’ She said, ‘Yes; may Allah curse it!’ The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘Do not insult it, for it washes away the servant’s sins just as the bellows remove the dross from iron.’” Al-Hakim (1/346) recorded it and said: “It is authentic according to Muslim’s criterion. He only recorded it, with a different wording, through the hadith of Hajjaj ibn Abi ‘Uthman, from Abu al-Zubayr.” Al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
I say: Hajjaj’s hadith follows next. Khalid ibn Yazid is al-Jumahi al-Misri; he is trustworthy and was relied upon in the two Sahihs.
