(4/244), who said: “Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs.” Al-Dhahabī concurred with him, and it is as they said.
I have also found a corroborating report for it in the hadith of Abū Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet, with the same wording. Al-Daylamī transmitted it in his Musnad (1/1/40—abridgement), from Yaḥyā ibn Abī Sulaymān, from Zayd Abū ʿAttāb, from him. This chain is adequate for corroborative evidence. This Zayd—who was Ibn Abī ʿAttāb—was declared reliable by Ibn Maʿīn. As for Yaḥyā ibn Abī Sulaymān, Abū Ḥātim said: “His hadith may be recorded, but he is not strong.” Al-Bukhārī said: “His hadith is rejected.” Ibn Ḥibbān listed him in al-Thiqāt (The Reliable Narrators).
664 — “Eat your food together and mention the name of Allah, Most High, over it; He will bless it for you.”
It was transmitted by Abū Dāwūd (2/139), Ibn Mājah (2/307), Ibn Ḥibbān (1345), al-Ḥākim (2/103), and Aḥmad (3/501), through the route of al-Walīd ibn Muslim, who said: Waḥshī ibn Ḥarb ibn Waḥshī narrated to me from his father, from his grandfather, “that a man said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we eat but are not satisfied.’ He said: ‘Perhaps you eat separately? Eat together...’” and so on.
