tawḥīd (pure monotheism). After this, let whoever calls people to the doctrine that “Allah is in the heaven” feel ashamed of himself and repent!!
In short, he is a hardened Jahmi: he strips the verses dealing with the divine attributes of their proper meanings through figurative twisting and outright negation, just as he did with the verses of istiwāʾ (Allah’s rising over the Throne). He likewise rejects authentic hadiths on the attributes, claiming they are weak and thereby flouting the verdicts of the masters of hadith criticism. This hadith is only one example among many. He declares weak the Prophet’s statement, “I saw my Lord in the most beautiful form,” and fabricates attributions concerning its grading to some of the leading Imams. He also impugns the hadiths that speak of the two Hands, the Grasp, the Fingers, the Divine Laugh, and the like. I hope that some of our brothers will devote time to refuting him and exposing to the people his ignorance, misguidance, and naked falsehood—may Allah spare the believers from his evil.
Once you, noble reader, have grasped what has just been made clear about this man—though little has been said compared to what could be said—the reason for his onslaught and vilification of the adherents of the Sunnah, their Imams, those who call to it and defend it, will be plain to you. Hardly a page of the volumes he has blackened is free of his sneers and slanders. I myself have been allotted a generous share; he can scarcely mention me without branding me a “corporealist” and a “self-contradictor,” coupling this with blatant forgery and lies. This proves conclusively that he harbors in his heart “rancor toward the believers,” and that the malady of the nations before us—hatred and envy, the razor that shaves away religion, Allah protect us—has taken hold of him, along with a profound ignorance of the principles of hadith authentication and critique.
Nothing shows this more clearly than his book which he entitled “The Contradictions of al-Albani.” It overflows with malice, ignorance, and conceit, reminding me of one of the portents of the Hour in the Prophet’s words: “In those days the rūwaybiḍah will speak.” It was asked, “Who are the rūwaybiḍah?” He replied, “A trivial man …"
