“The compiler marked it as good and did not attribute it to al-Dāraqutnī, because in his version it does not have a continuous chain of transmission.”
653 — “ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ is among the righteous men of Quraysh.”
Al-Tirmidhī (2/316) and Aḥmad (1/161) recorded it from Ibn Abī Mulaykah, who said: Ṭalḥah ibn ʿUbayd Allāh said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say it.” He then mentioned it.
Al-Tirmidhī said: “Its chain of transmission is not continuous, for Ibn Abī Mulaykah did not live to meet Ṭalḥah.”
I say: The narrators in its chain are trustworthy and precise. It has also been narrated with a continuous chain through Sulaymān ibn Ayyūb ibn Sulaymān ibn ʿĪsā ibn Mūsā ibn Ṭalḥah ibn ʿUbayd Allāh, who said: My father related to me from my grandfather, from Mūsā ibn Ṭalḥah, from Ṭalḥah, who said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace…” He then mentioned it.
