as recorded by Tammām al-Rāzī in al-Fawāʾid, through Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zurārah, who said: Ḥammād Abū Bishr al-ʿAbdī and al-Ashʿath ibn Saʿīd narrated to us from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, with this report. However, this al-Ashʿath is abandoned; and although Ḥammād Abū Bishr al-ʿAbdī is coupled with him, I have not identified him. If he is declared trustworthy, then the chain is good.
It also has a good corroborating report: “Whoever cuts down lote trees, Allah will plunge his head into the Fire.”
- “Whoever cuts down lote trees, Allah will plunge his head into the Fire.”
Al-Bayhaqī (6/141) recorded it through ʿAbd al-Qāhir ibn Shuʿayb, from Bahz ibn Ḥakīm, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission, as is well known regarding the chain of Bahz ibn Ḥakīm from his father from his grandfather. Concerning ʿAbd al-Qāhir ibn Shuʿayb, Ṣāliḥ Jazrah said: “There is no objection to him.” Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in al-Thiqāt. He was corroborated by Yaḥyā ibn al-Ḥārith, from his brother Mukhāriq ibn al-Ḥārith, from Bahz ibn Ḥakīm, with the wording: “From Allah, not from His Messenger: may Allah curse whoever assists in cutting down lote trees.” Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from this Mukhāriq, for I have not found any biographical notice of him. Al-Ḥāfiẓ did, however, mention him among the shaykhs of Yaḥyā ibn al-Ḥārith.
