Ibn ʿAsākir (11/328/2), from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Thābit ibn Thawbān, who said: ʿAṭāʾ ibn Qurrah narrated to me, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḍamrah, from Abū Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet. He cited him in ʿAṭāʾ’s biographical entry, and it is reported from ʿAlī ibn al-Madīnī that he said: “I do not know him.” Abū Zurʿah said: “He was among the best of Allah’s worshippers.” Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in al-Thiqāt, al-Tirmidhī graded a hadith of his good, and al-Taqrīb states that he was truthful. Al-Ḥākim said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic,” and al-Dhahabī concurred with him. Yet it is only good.
- “Whenever he wished to prostrate, he would say ‘Allāhu akbar’ and then prostrate; and whenever he rose from the sitting position, he would say ‘Allāhu akbar’ and then stand.”
