Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, with the second wording: “Then it belongs to him.” Al-Dārimī also recorded it (2/267) through Abū Usāmah, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, with the first wording: “He will have a reward for it.” This confirms the correction I made earlier to the narration in al-Musnad. Yet I remain undecided as to which of the two wordings is preferable, although it may be said that both are sound: it belongs to him as property, and he receives a reward for it. And Allah knows best.
569 — “O people, extend greetings of peace, feed people, maintain ties of kinship, and pray at night while people are asleep; you will enter Paradise in peace.”
Al-Tirmidhī (2/79), al-Dārimī (1/340), Ibn Mājah (nos. 1335, 3251), Ibn Naṣr in Qiyām al-Layl (p. 17), al-Ḥākim (3/13), Aḥmad (5/451), Ibn Saʿd in al-Ṭabaqāt (4/235), and al-Ḍiyāʾ in al-Mukhtārah (58/176/1–2) recorded it through several routes from ʿAwf ibn Abī Jamīlah, from Zurārah ibn Abī Awfā, who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Salām narrated to me:
“When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, arrived in Medina, the people rushed towards him, and it was said, ‘The Messenger of Allah has arrived! The Messenger of Allah has arrived! The Messenger of Allah has arrived!’—three times. So I made my way through the people to look at him. When I clearly saw his face, I knew that it was not the face of a liar. The first thing I heard him say was…” He then mentioned it.
Al-Tirmidhī said: “A good, authentic hadith.” Al-Ḥākim said: “Authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.” I say: Al-Dhahabī concurred with him, and it is as they both said.
570 — “Allah revealed to me that you should be humble, so that none of you may boast over another, nor may one transgress against another.”
