know. Aisha told me that she asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about His saying: “The whole earth will be in His grasp on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded up in His right hand.” “Where will the people be that Day, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied: “They will be on the bridge over Hell.”
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy, and all are narrators of the two Sahih collections except ʿAnbasah ibn Saʿīd—namely, Ibn al-Ḍurays al-Asadī—who is undisputedly trustworthy.
- “The best pre-dawn meal for the believer is dates.”
It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (883) and al-Bayhaqī (4/236–237), from Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr al-Muqaddamī, who said: Ibrāhīm ibn Abī al-Wazīr narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Madanī narrated to us, from al-Maqburī, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. All its narrators are trustworthy narrators of the Sahih collection. It also has another route from Abū Hurayrah, traced back to the Prophet, recorded by Abū ʿAwānah in his Sahih. Its text contains an additional wording, but its chain is extremely weak; for the sake of that addition, I cited it in the other series (1326).
It has a corroborating report in the hadith of Jābir, with two routes from him. The first is from Zamʿah ibn Ṣāliḥ, from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, from him, traced back to the Prophet with the same wording. It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī (folio 150/2), Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ḥilyah (3/350), al-Khaṭīb (2/286–12/438), and al-Silafī toward the end of a session from Amālī Abī Muṭīʿ al-Miṣrī.
