We were informed by the ascetic Imām, Shaykh Shams al-Dīn Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn al-Kamāl ʿAbd al-Raḥīm ibn ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and by Shams al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Zayn Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik—both Maqdisīs—this report being read to them while I listened in the year 681 AH.
They said:
Al-Sharīf Abū al-Futūḥ Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAmrūk al-Bakrī informed us, his copy having been read before him; Abū al-Asʿad Hibat al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Abī Qāsim ʿAbd al-Karīm ibn Hawāzin al-Qushayrī informed us; my grandfather informed us; Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Khaffāf informed us; Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Sarrāj informed us; Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd narrated to us; al-Layth narrated to us, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, who traced it back to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—who said:
“Whoever misses the ʿAsr prayer, it is as though he has been robbed of his family…"
