Imam Shams al-Dīn Abū al-Faraj ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUthmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿd al-Maqdisī—in the year 681 AH—together with Abū al-ʿAbbās ibn Shaybān and Ismāʿīl ibn al-ʿAsqalānī, informed us. The first two said, “Abū al-Yaman Zayd ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Zayd al-Kindī informed us,” while the latter two said, “Abū Ḥafṣ ibn Ṭabarzad informed us.”
They both related that Qāḍī Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Bāqī ibn Muḥammad al-Anṣārī informed us; Abū al-Qāsim ʿUmar ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad al-Khaffāf informed us—this was read to him while I listened in the year 447 AH; Abū al-Faḍl ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad al-Zuhrī informed us, it having been read to him in the year 373 AH; Muḥammad ibn Hārūn narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Ḥabīb narrated to us; Saʿīd ibn Rāshid narrated to us, from ʿAṭāʾ, from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said:
“No one should pronounce the iqāma (commencement call to prayer) except the one who gave the adhān (call to prayer).”
