The trustworthy shaykh, Zayn al-Din Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn Abī Ṭāhir Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Muḥsin al-Anmāṭī informed us—through a public reading to him which I attended in Rajab of the year 668 AH, together with Abū Ḥāmid ibn al-Ṣābūnī and al-Rashīd Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-ʿĀmirī.
They said:
Abū al-Qāsim ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Faḍl al-Ḥarastānī informed us; Abū Muḥammad Ṭāhir ibn Sahl ibn Bishr informed us; Abū al-Ḥasan Muḥammad ibn Bakr ibn ʿUthmān al-Azdī informed us; Abū al-Ḥasan Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zurayq, in a transmission selected by the ḥāfiẓ, informed us; Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥajjāj ibn Rushdīn al-Mahdī narrated to us—as it was read before him; Abū ʿAmr al-Ḥārith ibn Miskīn narrated to us; Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from his father:
that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said:
“Kill snakes, especially the one with two stripes and the short-tailed one, for they seek to destroy eyesight.”
