He said: Abū al-Ḥasan Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Makhlad al-Bazzāz informed us. He said: Abū ʿAlī Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl al-Ṣaffār informed us. He said: al-Ḥasan ibn ʿArafah ibn Yazīd al-ʿAbdī narrated to us. He said: Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to me, from Abū Isḥāq al-Sabiʿī, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said:
“The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, set out with his Companions and we entered the state of ihrām for Hajj. When we reached Mecca he said, ‘Turn your Hajj into an ʿumrah.’ The people said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we have already entered ihrām for Hajj—how can we turn it into an ʿumrah?’ He replied, ‘Observe what I command you to do, then do it.’ They responded to him with objections, so he became angry and went off until he entered upon ʿĀʾishah, may Allah be pleased with her, still visibly angry. Seeing the anger on his face, she said, ‘Whoever has angered you, may Allah be angry with him.’ He answered, ‘And why should I not be angry when I issue a command and it is not followed?’”
