86 – Abu Bakr al-Thaqafī related: A man said, “I was seized by an anxiety that left me helpless. I fell asleep and in my dream it was as though someone addressed me:

Stand firm against misfortunes, cut off every thread of dread;
Perhaps a day will come when what you hate is nowhere to be seen.
Many a dignified heart may greet affliction with a smile,
While deep inside, consumed by heat, it quietly laments.
He continued: I memorised the verses and woke up repeating them, and before long Allah lifted from me the distress I had been in.”
