79 – Khalid ibn Khidāsh narrated to us; Hammad ibn Zayd narrated, from Muhammad ibn ʿAmr, who said:
Anbasa ibn Saʿid said: I entered upon ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz to bid him farewell. When I had taken my leave and was turning away, he called out, “O Anbasa!”—twice. I went back to him, and he said:
“Make frequent mention of death, for whenever you are in circumstances that feel spacious it will constrict them for you, and whenever you are in circumstances that feel constricted it will enlarge them for you.”
