73 – Yaʿqūb ibn ʿUbayd and Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbād narrated to us; they said: Yazīd ibn Hārūn informed us; he said: Ḥarīz ibn ʿUthmān al-Raḥabī related; he said: Rāshid ibn Saʿd narrated:
A man came to Abū al-Dardāʾ and said, “Give me counsel.” He replied, “Remember Allah during times of ease and He will remember you during times of hardship. When you call the dead to mind, regard yourself as one of them. And whenever your soul yearns for something of this world, reflect on what it will ultimately become.”
