Al-Faraj ba'd al-ShiddaIbn Abi al-Dunya

57 – Muḥammad b. ʿAbbād b. Mūsā told me, Kathīr b. Hishām narrated to us, from al-Ḥakam b. Hishām al-Thaqafī, who said: I was informed that a man was taken captive, thrown into a well, and a stone was set over its mouth. While there he was prompted to say: ⦗63⦘ “Subḥāna al-Malik al-Quddūs, subḥāna Allāhi wa bi-ḥamdih (Glory be to the Sovereign, the All-Holy; glory be to Allah, and praise belongs to Him).” He was then brought out even though no human being had lifted him out.
