40 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbbād ibn Mūsā narrated to us; ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Qurashī narrated, from Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān, from Ghālib al-Qattān, who said: When Joseph’s hardship grew intense—his imprisonment dragging on, his clothes grimy, his hair disheveled, and people shunning him—he called upon Allah in the midst of that distress, saying, “O Allah, I complain to You of what I have suffered from both my friends and my foes. My friends sold me and took my price, while my enemies cast me into prison. O Allah, grant me relief and a way out.” Allah then granted him what he asked for.
