Al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to me and said: Abū Ghassān Mālik ibn Ḍaygham narrated to me, from Ibrāhīm ibn Khallād al-Azdī, who said:
Gabriel—peace be upon him—came down to Jacob, and Jacob complained to him about his plight. Gabriel said, “Shall I not teach you a supplication which, if you offer it, Allah will grant you relief?” He replied, “Indeed, do teach me.” Gabriel said, “Say: ‘O You whose reality none knows but You, O You whose full power no one else can fathom, grant me relief.’”
Thereupon the bearer of glad tidings arrived.
