- Yaḥyā ibn Yūsuf narrated to us; he said: Abū al-Mulayḥ narrated to us, from Maymūn, who said:
A son of Ibn ʿUmar once came to him and said, “Clothe me with a waist-wrap.” The one he was wearing had grown long and dragged on the ground. Ibn ʿUmar replied, “Go, cut it shorter, then sew it back together; that will be enough for you. By Allah, I foresee that you will devote ⦗58⦘ whatever Allah has provided to filling your stomachs and covering your bodies, while leaving your widows, your poor, and your orphans to fend for themselves.”
٥١ - حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُلَيْحِ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَ، قَالَ: أَتَى ابْنَ عُمَرَ ابْنٌ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: اكْسُنِي إِزَارًا، وَكَانَ إِزَارُهُ قَدْ دَلِّيَ، فَقَالَ: «اذْهَبْ فَاقْطَعْهُ ثُمَّ صِلْهُ فَإِنَّهُ سَيَكْفِيكَ؛ أَمَا وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي أَرَى سَتَجْعَلُونَ ⦗٥٨⦘ مَا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي بُطُونِكُمْ وَعَلَى جُلُودِكُمْ، وَتَتْرُكُونَ أَرَامِلَكُمْ وَمَسَاكِينَكُمْ وَيَتَامَاكُمْ»
