- Yaḥyā ibn Yūsuf al-Zammī narrated to us; he said: Abū al-Mulayḥ informed us, from Maymūn ibn Mihrān, from Nāfiʿ, who said:
“Ibn ʿUmar used to gather his household around a single large serving bowl every night. On occasion a beggar would arrive, and Ibn ʿUmar would take his own share of tharid (stew-soaked bread) and hand it over to him. When he came back, everything in the bowl would have been eaten. If I had managed to eat anything from it, then Ibn ʿUmar had eaten from it as well. He would then awake the next morning fasting.”
