5 – Khalid ibn Khidāsh narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Mujālid, from al-Shaʿbī, from Masrūq, who said:

I visited ʿĀʾishah, and she set some food before me and said, “Eat, for I seldom eat my fill of food; and if I wished to weep, I would surely do so.”

I asked, “Why is that?”

She replied, “I recall the state in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ departed this world: not once did he eat his fill of wheat bread twice in a single day until he met Allah.”
