40 – Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn said: Buhlul narrated to us, from Bishr ibn Manṣūr, from Thawr, from Khālid ibn Maʿdān, who said: “I read in some of the earlier books: ‘Starve your soul and make it thirsty—perhaps it will behold Allah.’”
