305 – ʿUbayd Allah al-ʿAtaki related to me; he said: Muhammad ibn ʿAmr told us; he said: Muhammad ibn Marwan told us, from Yunus ibn Abi al-Furat, who said:
Yazid al-Raqashi wrote to Ashʿath al-Huddani, “If you are seated, get up; if you are already standing, then come.”
He said: So I mounted a donkey and went to him. When I entered, he asked, “Do you know why I sent for you?”
I replied, “No.”
He said, “I summoned you only so that today we might weep over the cool water that will be longed for on the Day of Resurrection.”
٣٠٥ - حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ الْعَتَكِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ، قَالَ: كَتَبَ يَزِيدُ الرَّقَاشِيُّ إِلَى أَشْعَثَ الْحُدَّانِيِّ: «إِنَّ كُنْتَ قَاعِدًا فَقُمْ، وَإِنَّ كُنْتَ قَائِمًا فَأَقْبَلْ» ، قَالَ: فَرَكِبْتُ حِمَارًا، فَأَتَيْتُهُ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ: «أَتَدْرِي لِمَ أَرْسَلْتُ إِلَيْكَ» ؟ قُلْتُ: لَا، قَالَ: «إِنَّمَا أَرْسَلْتُ إِلَيْكَ لِنَبْكِيَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَى الْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»
