290 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbād ibn Mūsā related to me: Zayd ibn ⦗174⦘ al-Ḥubāb told us; he said: Abū Kaʿb, the silk-seller, informed me; he said: Anas ibn Sirīn reported that ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar once felt a strong desire for fresh fish. Some was therefore brought to him from several miles outside Madinah, already grilled, and thin flat loaves were prepared for him as well. When it was time for him to break his fast, the meal was set before him on a serving board, and he kept looking at it. Then he said, “Take this to the orphans of such-and-such a household.” His companion said to him, “First satisfy your appetite from it, and then we will take it to those orphans.” He replied, “Take it to the orphans of that household. Once they have enjoyed it to their satisfaction, I will have enjoyed it to mine.” I kept pressing him, yet each time he repeated the very same words.
