280 – Harun narrated to me; he said: al-Asmaʿi narrated to me; he said: Abu ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAlaʾ narrated to me: “A man would sit right next to his cooking pot, ladling food out for his neighbours and his family.” Someone said to him, “Do you mean according to his means?” He replied, “No—rather, you people will not even offer water.”
