276 – Hārūn ibn Sufyān narrated to us; al-Muʿayṭī narrated to us; Baqiyyah narrated to us; Abū ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sallām al-Wuḥāḍī narrated to us; he said: Someone who was present with the Caliph al-Walid ibn Yazīd while his son was having lunch with him related to me. The boy was chewing a mouthful, rolling it around, so the Caliph said to him, “Woe to you! Spit it out, for it is harsher on your stomach than it is on your teeth.”
