262 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Wāqid narrated to us; he said: Damrah narrated to us, from ⦗158⦘ ʿUthmān ibn ʿAṭāʾ, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah—that he once visited his people in Palestine, and they brought him some of the earliest ruqāq (a thin, refined bread). When he saw it, he wept. They asked, “O Abū Hurayrah, what makes you weep?” He replied, “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never set eyes on this before he left this world.”
