261 – Muhammad said: Shuʿayb ibn Muḥriz narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Zayd narrated to us: ʿUqbah ibn Wassaj once attended a wedding. When the food was served, they kept removing one course and bringing another, whereupon he began to weep and said, “I met the first generation of this ummah; they feared this very thing for those who would come after them.” He then restricted himself to eating from only a single dish.
