- Muḥammad ibn Qudāmah al-Jawharī narrated to me, he said: Saʿdān ibn Jāmiʿ al-Jallāb narrated to us, from Miskīn Abū Fāṭimah, from Ṣāliḥ al-Murrī, who said: ⦗150⦘ “I said to ʿAṭāʾ al-Salīmī, ‘You have grown weak—shall we not prepare some sawiq (roasted-grain drink) for you?’ So I prepared the sawiq, and he drank a little of it. After a few days he was no longer drinking, so I said, ‘We went to the trouble of making that sawiq for you!’ He replied, ‘O Abū Bishr, whenever I remember the Fire, I cannot swallow it.’”
٢٤٤ - حَدَّثَنَي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدَانُ بْنُ جَامِعٍ الْجَلَّابِ، عَنْ مِسْكِينٍ أَبِي فَاطِمَةَ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ الْمُرِّيِّ، قَالَ: ⦗١٥٠⦘ قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ السَّلِيمِيِّ: أَنَّكَ قَدْ ضَعُفْتَ فَلَوْ صَنَعْنَا لَكَ سَوِيقًا؟ قَالَ: فَصَنَعْتُ لَهُ سَوِيقًا، فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ مَكَثَ أَيَّامًا لَا يَشْرَبُ، فَقُلْتُ: صَنَعْنَا لَكَ السَّوِيقَ وَتَكَلَّفْنَاهُ؟ فَقَالَ: «يَا أَبَا بِشْرٍ، إِنِّي إِذَا ذَكَرْتُ النَّارَ لَمْ أُسِغْهُ»
