231 – Muhammad ibn al-Husayn said: Hakim ibn Jaʿfar informed us; he said: Abū ʿUmar al-Ṣaffār narrated to us, from Abū Sinān, from Wahb, who said: “I read in one of the earlier scriptures: ‘The sweetness of this world is the bitterness of the Hereafter, and the bitterness of this world is the sweetness of the Hereafter; the thirst of this world is the refreshment of the Hereafter, and the refreshment of this world is the thirst of the Hereafter; the hunger of this world is the satiety of the Hereafter, and the satiety of this world is the hunger of the Hereafter; the sorrow of this world is the joy of the Hereafter, and the joy of this world is the sorrow of the Hereafter. Whoever sends something forward will find it awaiting him when the affair reaches its end.’”
