186 – Ishaq ibn Ibrahim related to us; Jaʿfar ibn Sulayman informed us, from Hisham, from al-Hasan, who said:
‘Umar ibn al-Khattab never ate anything but maghlūth—a dish thickened with barley—until he met Allah. His stomach would sometimes rumble, whereupon he would pat it with his hand and say, “Be patient! By Allah, you will get from me nothing beyond what you see, until you meet Allah.”
