- Ziyad ibn Ayyub narrated to me; he said: Ahmad ibn Abi al-Hawari narrated to me; he said: I heard Abu Sulayman al-Darani say: I heard Abu al-Ashhab, the companion of al-Hasan in ‘Abadan, say: "Allah revealed to David—peace be upon him—: O David, warn and admonish your companions against indulging in appetites, for hearts that cling to the desires of this world are veiled from Me."
١٥٨ - حَدَّثَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْحَوَارِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سُلَيْمَانَ الدَّارَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْأَشْهَبِ، صَاحِبَ الْحَسَنِ بِعَبَّادَانَ يَقُولُ: " أَوْحَى اللَّهُ ﷿ إِلَى دَاوُدَ ﵇: يَا دَاوُدُ، حَذَّرَ وَأَنْذِرْ أَصْحَابِكَ أَكَلَ الشَّهَوَاتِ، فَإِنَّ الْقُلُوبَ الْمُعَلَّقَةَ بِشَهَوَاتِ الدُّنْيَا عَنِّي مَحْجُوبَةٌ "
