151 – ʿAwn ibn Ibrāhīm narrated: Aḥmad ibn Abī al-Ḥawārī told me, and he said that ʿAbdallāh ibn al-Sarī reported:
A young man was devoted to worship in Basra. His aunt used to send him his food, but for three days ⦗101⦘ she sent him nothing. He cried out, “My Lord, have You withdrawn my provision?”
Thereupon a small pouch filled with sawiq (roasted barley flour) was thrown to him from a corner of the mosque, and a voice said, “Here you are, O you of little patience!”
He responded, “By Your might, now that You have reproached me, I shall not taste it.”
